Lol you cant compare the banks truck to stucky truck.

Stuck engine has right around 5k in it. There was a very good article on them in diesel power. Banks well i can beat they have more money that than they would ever say.

I am done clutering this post sorry hijacked.

Tyler

Read the Article, then make your decision. I have had a couple diesel and i do know how pricey it is. Machine work, big injectors, a tubro to match, some appropiate tuning and it will roll pretty fast.

I can't say i have been racing for as many years as you mike, but i have been doing it for a while. I have done it long enough to know that just by changing tires on a stock truck isan't going to make that big of a difference. Even with those tires that you posted your not gonna be able to make them stick without some suspension work. These trucks have way too much torque, and not anywhere near enough weight transfer for these light rear ends. The only 2wd trucks that you see racing that can make them stick has had major work done and are dedicated race trucks. It's really not fesiable for someone that wants to race their truck on Saturday and Sunday and then hook it to a 15000 lbs trailer Monday morning.

See i agree Kyle i dont race so i dont have opinions on the tires but thats why the average guy takes a 4x4 truck and drags it less money in suspension and hooks hard. And runs 12's and quicker depnding the truck and money spent.

Tyler

Sorry to thread jack.

Obviously we have a difference in opinion. I will use my own, first hand experience. There is more of a shock to tires when launching at 7000rpm in a manual with a 4000lb car than there is with a 700lb.ft. truck going through an automatic and weighing 8000lbs. The tires I posted are specifically made for 6-7 second cars. They are hooking up, leaving at 8-9000rpm with no problems.

Yes, just changing tires can make a HUGE difference in how a vehicle reacts. Perfect example. Take a 2009 Corvette ZR1. It runs 11.1 on street tires, impressive right? When an owner put on Nitto Drag Radials, he went 10.6 on the same exact day, same car, same driver, same conditions.

TIRES ARE EVERYTHING !!!!!!!!!

Then again, maybe I am a bit more on the serious side when I go drag racing. Its normal for me to go to the track with another set of rims and tires to swap when I get there. Its just what guys like me do. And its the only way to know what your vehicle is TRULY capable of.

The only problem i see here is your comparing a Built race car in your first example to a Diesel work truck. Look at the weight transfer differences. There is very little weight transfer on our rear tires to make them stick.

In your second example your comparing a diesel truck to a sports car. While the sports car isan't a purpose built race car, but it does have a suspension set up much better for racing then my truck does.

I am not arguing that if you have a Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, or even a honda civic that a set of tires would not help because i know they will. I am running a set of BF Goodwich Drag Comps on our z-28 and it made a huge difference. I am just saying that on a Diesel truck that is built to haul 20000 lbs a set of slicks is not going to make you hook with out doing major suspension work and then you won't be able to work the truck on monday morning.

i dunno if u would want a srw reg. cab long box 4x4fantasy, but i saw this on craigslist the other day and thought it was a crazy good deal if everything works! it would be a sweet ass drag truck, all the money you could save on this thing to build it up to! as long as its not a scam!

I had 46 HIGH RES. pics of this truck I took to advertise it if anyone wants to see any other pics.

The point I was making is what a difference tires make.

I am telling you, if you were to buy those tires, do a HUGE burnout, and launch with all the boost you can muster, you will NOT spin!!! Not one single bit. They are a lot stickier than I think you guys realize.
You want to donate me a set and we will test it out? :rof

Lamb that's got to be the best looking dually iv ever seen who ever bought this and his it now is a lucky person

Haha didn't even look at that but damn ain't nothing a frame cleaning and paint job can't fix
