Sluggish first gear

Hey I am was wondering if anyone has had this issue before. When I give the truck full throttle from a dead stop it takes forever for it to get up and go. But once it shifts into 2nd it pulls hard through every gear. The truck had an Edge Juice with attitude programmer in it when I bought the truck but was not hooked up at the time. It was used by the previous owner but it does not work when hooked up anymore. The truck is stock, and there are no codes stored in the truck. I replaced all 8 injectors and the head gaskets and installed ARP head studs. I got the truck with those issues so I don't know how a healthy LB7 should feel. Any input would be appreciated.

Mine does that. Torque management is what's causing I think. Someone else will know.

From what I have read, the newer ones (LML) are worse. Mine feels like a 60cc air cooled two stroke motocross bike. The dead pedal is so bad, it gets dangerous entering traffic if you are not used to it.

Wait for the turbo to light guys..

Thank you... Your turbo isn't going to light straight off the line. What you are experiencing is normal. Just nature of the beast.

does the same happen if you spool the turbo a little and launch?

Turbo lag.......

on your lb7 about the time you hit 2nd gear at wot your turbo is finally lighting up, the IHI isnt the most responsive turbos made.. what your feeling is normal..

Well at least its normal ha ha. I just didnt understand why the engine wouldnt have much torque before the turbo spooled. I have a 3.8L turbocharged V6 and she has more get up and go before the turbo spools than this larger displacement engine.Thats a horrible comparison tho... But this is my first diesel so I'm unaware of the feeling Thanks for the input!

your 3.8l probably isnt in 7,500 lb pickup truck either..these diesels are literally turds without turbos...

That 3.8L probably has the tiniest baby GT22 turbo ever or something similar lol

lol good point..
im not meaning to sound like an ass or be mean.. just sayin, these trucks are heavy, and the 6.6 isnt really a huge motor but it is big, they do awesome..
i know my truck is pretty fast (not bragging) to the point that it actually amazes me that something this heavy and can only rev 3200 rpm's can boogie down the road so fast.. agree? lol so some turbo lag is ok, especially on the first duramax GM designed, and in the op's case would be 11 years old.. lol

really???? lol thats sweet...
but yes what you are describing with your dmax sounds perfectly normal to me..IMO
do tell about the car you speak of!
