I bought a 2006 Sierra 2500 HD with 190k bone stock about 6 weeks ago. After I was driving home a couple hours later(I bought the truck in Pocatello Idaho and live near Olympia WA) the tranny kicked out of gear and threw a code. I went straight to the parts shop to read the codes. The codes are P0729 Gear 6 incorrect ratio P0567 cruise control signal and P0700 Trans control syst malfunction. From a stop I hammered down threw every gear with no slipping. It eventually quit throwing codes and erased them without being told to but the issue still continues. At first it just seemed to kick out randomly or over a decent bump but now does over a bump, letting off the fuel, no reason at all and sometimes wont go into gear from park. It is now so bad I barely made it home. Please help point me in the right direction because now I can not even drive HELP MEEE

People post in the 911 and expect fast action for their problems, when in fact, they are lucky to get much help there. Some do not get a response for days-- that is why I moved it to the trans section, so you can more professional help. The 911 section is worthless -[my opinion]

I'd check wiring and maybe the sensor itself, just as it's easy to do. I saw a thread a while back the speed sensor was busted somehow and rubbing the ring when hitting bumps and stuff. Oil will be the big tale tale but I'd start with the cheap easy route

Ok I drained the transfer case and I did not find any metal flakes I could grab but was defiantly a metal hue because I could see what looked like flakes but when I tried to grab them it was all too fine to feel and the oil looked like a mirror. Any thoughts? Which sensor is the one that may cause this and how do I test it?

Seen worse by far. Buy A pump rub kit and roll with it.

Put a new 5w-40 synthetic oil in the transfer and grease the fuck out the yoke and try it out.

I’ve been doing some searching for my transmission problem and ran across this thread. Mine feels like it’s coming out of gear and will free rev. If I let off of the fuel peddle completely it will usually go back into gear. Mine only seems to do it under light load, usually it will do it as I’m slightly reducing speed. It will not do it under a moderateto heavy load. Today it did it in 2 gear and there was a rattling or ratcheting type noise from under the pickup. The first time it happened a few weeks ago, it threw a P0729 code and stayed in 5th gear until I shut the truck off and restarted it. I changed fluid and filters with delvac a couple weeks ago and it seems to be doing it worse. I also changed the internal transmission harness while I had the pan off because the bulk head plug was leaking. I will be checking my transfer case fluid after reading this but please feel free to give out anymore ideas. It’s frustrating as hell.
