I'm sure this has been asked before, done a lot of searching but havnt found much to answer my question.

Im looking to buy a set of Dropstars 645's today, 18x9. Offset that id be looking at is 0mm or -12mm. Will be running 275/70R18 Toyo MTs most likely (34 inch tire). I would like to do -12mm offset, but concerned of major rubbing. I have no complaints doing the fender mod and cutting up the valance (will most likely have a custom bumper anyways). Truck will have 2 inch blocks in the rear, lift keys in the front with Cognito UCA's.

I just put American Outlaw Bunker wheels on my truck they are 18x8.5 with a +10mm offset. The stock wheels are +31mm offset so it actually negatively offset from stock -21mm. That being said I have a Truxx leveling kit and im running 34/12 Nitto Trail Grapplers and I had to do small fender mod as described on this forum by Nor Cal Nick. Once I was all done I fixed the rubbing but it is still a really tight fit. Based on the info you gave me and my limited experience, I think you will make them fit (just barely) with the small fnerder mod and a leveling kit. I will soon being doing a BDS six inch lift to completely solve the problem.........

Well, went with the 18x9 Dropstar 645 with 4,5 BS and -12mm offset.

Looking at tires now...going with toyo mt's but unsure of which size yet

Either a 285/70R18 (33.7) or 285/75R18 (34.8)

The bigger tire is almost 30 dollars cheaper per tire...

Here is my truck with 18 x 9 XD Hoss with -12mm offset and 33 x 12.50 Toyo MT. It works with trimming and leveled. In NO way will you fit either of those tires you listed without some major hacking or a lift.

Save the mess and energy and order a 33 x12.50:

with a -12 and that wide of a tire you are going to need some trimming. the 75 will require much more than the 70.
Sorry homie but the 285/75 ain't gonna fix without massive rubbing
Both are very correct.

your truck looks good.

Thanks for the replies, makes me re think a few things.

I would like the bigger tire of course, my buddy runs a Kelly Safari TSR with a diameter of 34.8 on his truck with a 16 inch rim with a 0 offset. He has 2 inch blocks and keys in the front on his 02 Duramax.

Will that -12mm offset make that much of a difference on my truck to where it will rub even with the same type of "lift" he has? And remember, that 285/75R18 is 11.22 inches wide instead of 12.5 inches...

I appreciate all the help a lot...just trying to see where i stand with what i want. And I am also not worried about it hitting the front bumper or valance, since that is going to go in the scrap bin and i will be building one.

Why the bigger tire? What purpose will it serve?

I know that the 285/75 is a narrower tire, but won't change a thing with the wheel offset. It is still going to rub. Things to consider with a "key" lift are CV angles, ride quality and what clearance you still need on the backside. I understand you are scrapping the front bumper. You still have the inner fender to contend with. I rubbed some and was just careful with mine at full lock. I can't imagine how bad it could be with a taller tire.

Would a 0 offset be a better choice?
Yes it would definitely help, but a shorter tire would be the biggest help. Just trying to make sure you won't regret.

I have 285/65R18's, -12 18x9's, torsion bars maxed, still rubs, this is a 32.7" tire from the manufacturer specs.

Hmm, I'm still not decided on tires i guess. Think ill be ordering the 0 offset, since i can always get 12mm wheel spacers to bring the rim out if i would like

large fender mod is your friend. i havent done it, but it looks pretty easy and quick...crank keys and you can fit 35s with a small positive offset...
